Exercise Information

Receiving chiropractic care during an acute exacerbation or injury is important, but in order to promote quicker healing and increased strength of the injured tissues, exercise is important. The human body is designed to be an active, living being. To that end, exercise is an important part of life and an important adjunct to chiropractic care. Dr. Howard does not expect everyone to hit the gym for hours on end, but a simple exercise program will help keep the body moving and improve health.

Dr. Howard utilizes specific exercises, stretching, and strengthening programs as an adjunct to the chiropractic adjustments and therapies in the office. During your initial appointment and examination, you will be asked about exercise and activity level. After the examination and first adjustment, you will receive your treatment plan that may include instructions for stretching, exercises, or strengthening. These activities are very important and are designed specifically for your situation and area of complaint. They are also designed to be done in a relatively short period of time so that you are more likely to do the exercises.

Examples of exercise programs include:

Dr. Howard also has therapy Body Balls and Balance Boards that you can purchase and use in the exercise programs. Prior to offering her suggestions to you, she will often demonstrate the techniques in the office so that you know how they are to be done safely. She is currently working on brochures for hand-outs with pictures and descriptions of the exercises. In the mean time, she will work with you in the office to be certain that you understand what she asks you to do at home.
